Nizhoni Ward was born in Tuba City, Arizona which is located on the Diné-Navajo reservation. Pageantry began when she won a baby contest in Tuba City at 8 months old.
At the age of 13, she started the “Nizhoni Hozho Project “ to give back to indigenous youth. Two years later, the Nizhoni Hozho Project continues with the main project of making ribbon skirts for indigenous native residential students, masks and beaded earrings with all profits going back to the project. She is also an entrepreneur and in the process of establishing her own small business company called Nizhoni Hozho Co.
She is a sophomore in High school where she received high honors and recently qualified as a Board of Education distinguished scholar for her high school. She wants to continue with high honors in school, stay focused on the future, learn new languages and study abroad.
Her ambition is to attend an Ivy League School, get a dual degree in medicine and journalism, and become a Pediatrician.
Her hobbies include playing volleyball, beading Native American earrings, sewing, spending time with family, watching movies/tv shows, designing, speaking french, and volunteering.
Nizhoni wants to encourage others by using her experiences to give hope. She considers herself to be a unique person with a strong cultural background of two Native American tribes, Navajo and Choctaw. She wants to be a leader, role model and spokesperson for diversity. She wants to embrace everyone's differences and empower them to be confidently beautiful with themselves.
